Summary

Lidl Asia are hiring a Senior Sustainability Manager to lead and drive our sustainability projects in collaboration within the company and with our external stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Ensures all factory engagement is in line with Lidl’s strict Ethical Sourcing Policies.
  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies and policies that demonstrate recognisable environmental, economic, and social benefits for our products which is in-line with goals set by Lidl International.
  • Assess and analyse company policies and processes to identify areas in and processes to which improvements can be made in accordance with the organisation’s commitment to sustainability.
  • Brainstorm and identify creative ways in which the company can balance business obligations (fairest lowest cost) with the goal of respecting, supporting, and improving the value chain for where we source our goods.
  • Draft and prepare reports, presentations, and proposals. Present proposals and recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer, Directors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and approve proposals for sustainability projects, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and integration with other initiatives.
  • Develop or oversee the development of sustainability evaluation or monitoring systems.
  • Develop methodologies to assess the viability or success of sustainability initiatives.
  • Direct sustainability program operations to ensure compliance with environmental or governmental regulations.
  • Identify educational, training, or other development opportunities for sustainability employees and factory base.
  • Lead Sustainability projects, e.g., plastic reduction in packaging, using more environmentally friendly materials for products, etc.
  • Be a lead change agent for making Lidl Asia into the most Sustainable lead importer.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree holder or above, with a major in Environmental Science, Management or related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in corporate sustainability, candidates from manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record on long term strategy planning and implementation.
  • Hands on experience in environmental risk assessment, CSR reporting, and project execution.
  • Strong strategic planning skills to steer Lidl towards a more sustainable, fair, and healthier assortment.
  • Extensive network in this field is highly preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter, and highly motivated to succeed.
  • Strong business acumen and able to drive sustainability concept in a group level.
  • Proven ability in managing people and teams.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English is a must. Fluency in Chinese and/or German is an advantage.
